Stir at Nashik Plant of M&M ends

At last, dispute between Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) and Nashik plant worker came to an end. Both were agreed to sign a new agreement for three and half years. The new agreement was signed by  Bhartiya Kamgar Sena Union that represents the union and the senior officials of the facility.

Nissan to sell 30K units of A star in the UK

Maruti Suzuki will sell its A star car models through Nissan Motor Company under the brand name Pixo. Maruti Suzuki intended to sell 30,000 units of the car in the UK. For this purpose the company has inked a deal perhaps for the first time in India. Totally Maruti Suzuki will export 100,000 units this year. Audi to launch Q5 on June 4

Audi's Q5 will hit Indian roads on June 4th. It is expected that the base model would be priced at Rs 37.5 lakh. The top end model will have the price tag starting from Rs 45 lakh. The car will compete with BMW X3 in India. With the launch of Q5 in the Indian market, it intends to take the competition head-on with the two popular luxury brands-Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 series. The company had already launched A6 at the price of Rs 36 lakh.

Maruti launches new hatchback Ritz in five variants

Maruti Suzuki, Indo-japanese carmker, on Friday launched another hatchback 'Ritz' in five variants, three with petrol engines, LXi, VXi and Zxi, and two with diesel engines-LDi and VDi. The small car's petrol version has been priced at between Rs 390,000 and Rs 480,000. Whereas the diesel variant will cost between  Rs 456,000 and Rs 499,000 in the national capital. Ritz, a variant of Suzuki's European car Splash, will be available in India with two different engine options: a new 1.2-litre, four-cylinder 85 PS petrol version, and 1.3-litre, 16-valve DDiS, 75 PS diesel engine. Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi told reporters here that Ritz would be the first Bharat Stage-IV emission norms compliant Indian car.

Fiat Grand Punto to be launched in June in three variants

Fiat Grand Punto is all set to roll out in the Indian market in the first week of June. It will be available in three variants-Active, Dynamic and Emotion. The Active variant will equipped with 1.2 liter petrol engine while Dynamic and Emotion will be launched with 1.4 Liter petrol engine. It will also be available with 1.3 Liter Multi-jet diesel engine which is known for its super performance and fuel-economy.

Ford India mulling compact car by next year

Ford India Pvt. Ltd is seriously thinking over to bring a new compact car in India by early next year. This was confirmed by company's  Executive Director, Ford India, Nigel E. Wark. He told that the company would roll out the compact car. However, the sub-segments in the small car category will differentiate. He informed that small cars markets are the largest in India and China. The company will focus on this area. Especially, in India where the small cars volume accounts for nearly two-third of the total.

Call of M&M Nashik strike in 48 hrs: Court

The Nashik industrial court ordered on Wednesday the strike to be called off within 48 hours. The company, Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M), informed about this decision to the stock exchange on Thursday. The court declared the strike as illegal and has ordered workers to report to their respective shifts. It may be recalled that the workers at M&M Nashik plant went on a tool-down strike over the union demanding that the suspension of its leader Madhav Dhatrak be revoked. The workers went on strike on May 4. The Nashik plant produces M&M's flagship Scorpio and utility vehicles Bolero and Xylo, besides rolling out Mahindra Renault's sedan Logan.

Maruti to launch Ritz tomorrow

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its new hatchback Ritz in India on Friday. This car will have several firsts tagged with it like Tata Nano. Maruti to double rural outlets by 2011

Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL), India's largest car maker, is going to double the number of its outlets in rural India from 231 to 450 by 2011. This move will increase the company's network from 35% to  50% in rural outlets. The objective is a part of Maruti's mid-term plan to generate sales of 2,50,000 cars annually from rural India which, in turn, will go a long way in helping it meet its target of a million vehicles in the domestic market by 2011-12. It clocked sales of 722,000 units in fiscal that just ended.

Stir at M&M Nahik continues, production of Xylo delays

The labour strike at M&M Nashik plant has resulted in delays production of Mahindra's Xylo. For five consecutive days, the intense strike is on due to salary agreement. The company said that the strike has forced company to change the delivery schedule. Whereas, there is no reduction in demand. When the plant started the production was around 60 Xylos a day, which was doubled to 135 at present.

Honda's new compact car in Rs 4.5 lakh

Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) has initiated the homework to launch a compact car within three years priced at around Rs 4.5 lakh. This small car would be the first model from Honda that will be developed with India as a lead market. For this task, the company is making all arrangements in advance such as R&D team, plant and team size as well. Honda Jazz engine is special for India

The engine, which is developed in Honda R&D centre in Tochigi Japan, has been specially developed for the Indian Market. MSI to develop cars on its own

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is planning to develop new cars on its own. Until now the company is taking assistance form its parent company. Though, the R&D persons in India were contributed in the development of Dzire, Swift and SX4 but the major job was to be finished in Japan.
